Lidocaine: Several liters of saline with a local anesthetic (lidocaine) and a vasopressor ( epinephrine ) are pumped under the skin in order to cause the blood vessels to contract. It is possible to suction out some fat by using small suction tubes to remove some fat. It is the most common type of liposuction.
Dry liposuction: There is no need to inject any type of numbing agent before removing the fat. It is a very old method that is being used increasingly rarely. There is a greater risk of bruising and bleeding if the skin is numbed.
If you have a cannula that can be used to help remove fat, ultrasound will energize the instruments that are used to perform ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL). During the procedure, the fat in the fatty area is melted away by the high-pressure liquid that is applied to the cannula. It causes ultrasound vibrations to burst the fat cells. This liquefies the fat, which makes it easier to remove by using a special tool called a vacuum. It is suitable for areas that are hard to access, such as the abdomen and the back, or those that have previously undergone liposuction.
Ultrasonic liposuction is then followed by suction assisted liposuction to remove the liquefied fat.
